About Mekong Links and how it is checked

Mekong Links is an editorial directory of sources for travel in the Mekong Delta. This page explains how links are chosen, how and when they are checked, what happens when one breaks, and how to ask for a correction.

Why this directory exists

Travel information about the Mekong Delta is spread across provincial portals, newspapers, company websites and old blog posts, much of it written before the 2025 province merger. The editors of Mekong Links collect the pages that hold original information and add the note a reader needs: who published it, what it is good for and when it was last checked.

How links are chosen

  • Official sources: ministries, provincial departments, park and museum boards, UNESCO. Included when they have a page about delta travel, heritage or entry rules.
  • Companies: included when their website shows at least one Mekong Delta trip, cruise or transport service on the day we check. Grouped by what the traveller needs, then listed A to Z.
  • Press: national newspapers and broadcasters, used when they carry a dated fact that no official page shows, such as visitor numbers or the result of a festival.
  • Associations: industry bodies, labelled as such, never as official.

Blogs and aggregator guides are not used as sources for figures. Where a travel guide is the only source for a price, we name it and give its date.

How links are checked

Each link is opened on the check date shown beside it. The current check date for the whole directory is 12 October 2026. We record whether the page loaded and whether it still shows what our note says. For company pages, the test is that a Mekong Delta trip is still listed; we do not test bookings.

Several Vietnamese government portals did not load for our checker, which runs outside Vietnam, or refused automated requests. When an important official link fails, we keep it and mark it "did not load" with the date, rather than remove it on the first failure.

When a link is removed

  • A company page no longer shows any Mekong Delta trip.
  • A company website stops loading and does not come back on a later check.
  • An official page is replaced; we link the new address when we find it.
  • A page turns out to be a copy of an operator's site under a different name.

Removed links are not replaced by anyone who asks to be added; new entries go through the same criteria as the existing ones.

What this site does not do

Mekong Links does not sell tours, tickets, cruises or rooms, and does not take bookings or deposits. We do not sell places in the directory or a higher position on a page. The site shows advertising in spaces labelled "Advertisement"; advertisers have no say over what the lists contain, and the about page carries no advertising.

We do not give step-by-step routes between towns, and we do not write about food. Opinions about a company's service are not published here; we report what its website shows.

Dates, places and names

Place names follow the administrative map that took effect on 1 July 2025. Old province and district names appear where a reader will meet them, with the current province in brackets. Prices quoted from a third party carry the source and the month it was published, and are marked as reference figures.

Where sources disagree — Tram Chim's entrance fee, the Ramsar year of Mui Ca Mau, the start day of the Sam Mountain festival — we say so and give both, rather than pick one.

Corrections

If something on a page is wrong or out of date, tell us through the contact page. Include the page address, what is wrong and, if you have it, the official page or notice that shows the correct information.

We check the report against the source. When it holds, we correct the page, update the check date and, for a change of substance — a wrong date, a removed company, a closed site — add a short note in the relevant section saying what changed. Small fixes such as a typo are made without a note.
