National tourism and immigration bodies first, then the government and tourism portals of the five new provinces. Each line says who runs the page, what it is useful for and whether it loaded when we checked it on 12 October 2026.

National bodies

These pages cover the whole country, but each has something specific to the delta: festival notices posted by provinces, the national register of licensed travel businesses, or the immigration rules you meet at the Cambodian border on the river.

Provincial portals

Each new province has a general government portal and, in most cases, a separate tourism portal. The government portals carry decisions and announcements; the tourism portals carry place pages, event notices and lists of hotels and travel businesses registered with the province. Use the tourism portal first and the government portal to confirm a decision.

The An Giang tourism portal is run by the provincial Department of Tourism. Much of its place content still covers the former Kien Giang side of the province — Ha Tien, Rach Gia, U Minh Thuong and Phu Quoc. Ca Mau kept a combined Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Department names therefore differ from province to province; look for the function rather than a fixed title.

Associations and regional bodies

Associations are not regulators, but their member lists show which businesses are active in a province. The An Giang Tourism Association merged with the Kien Giang association under provincial Decision 1463/QĐ-UBND of 13 October 2025 and lists its office in Phu Quoc. We label such sites "Association", not "Official".

How to recognise a real .gov.vn page

  • The address ends in .gov.vn with nothing after it. "gov.vn.something" or "govvn.com" are not state domains.
  • Provincial tourism portals usually follow the pattern dulich.<province>.gov.vn; department sites use a short code such as svhtt or sovhttdl before the province name.
  • The footer names the managing body after the words "Cơ quan chủ quản" (managing agency). Read it: a portal run by a department will say so.
  • Several private sites use a province name in their domain and look official. If the footer names a company, treat it as a company site, however useful it is.
  • Several government portals did not load for our checker, which runs outside Vietnam. If one will not load, try again later or search the national VNAT site for the same notice before trusting a copy elsewhere.
Old provincial portals

Portals of the provinces that merged in 2025 (Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, Hau Giang, Bac Lieu, Kien Giang, Tien Giang) may still appear in search results with older content. Check the date on any notice before relying on it.

Visas and the river border

If you plan to cross into Cambodia by boat from Chau Doc, two official pages matter: the e-visa portal for entering Vietnam and the Immigration Department's site for border-gate notices. Readers report confusion about which gate name applies to the river crossing on an e-visa, and we have not been able to settle it from an official page. Ask the boat operator and confirm the gate list on the immigration site before you travel; the operator links are on the transport operators page.

When an official source is the wrong place to look

Official portals are strongest on names, rankings and decisions, and weakest on anything that changes weekly. They rarely carry current boat timetables or fares, and a festival notice may appear only a few days before the event. English sections, where they exist, are often shorter than the Vietnamese ones.

For timetables and fares, go to the operator. For what is actually on sale, go to the tour company. For a figure with a date — visitor numbers, a bridge opening, a flood warning — a report in a national newspaper is often easier to find than the original decision; we label those links "Press".

Common questions

Questions readers send

How do I check whether a Vietnamese tour company is licensed?

The National Authority of Tourism runs a public database of travel businesses at quanlyluhanh.vn. You can search by company name, licence number or province, and it lists revoked licences.

Why does a provincial .gov.vn site not open for me?

Several provincial portals timed out or refused our checker, which runs outside Vietnam. On 12 October 2026 the Can Tho, An Giang and Dong Thap government portals did not load for our checker, while their tourism portals did.

Try the tourism portal first, or look for the same notice on the national VNAT site.

Is there still a Ben Tre or Tra Vinh tourism website?

Both are now part of Vinh Long province. Old portals may still show up in searches; treat anything dated before July 2025 as historical and confirm current details with Vinh Long's provincial bodies.
